He's Always Been Faithful to Me

Friends, yesterday was my birthday. I'm not a big "birthday person," but what they have come to mean since I've lived here in DC for almost 8 years now (wow!) is a visit from my mom!

This weekend she came down, brought one of my friends with her, and we had a great time.

I tend to get a little reflect-y around my birthdays - not in a negative way, but maybe not in a positive-enough way either. I think about where I am, where God has taken and brought me, and consider what could be ahead.

This weekend, while approaching a reflect-y day, one of my favorite hyms kept running through my mind, as it is even as I type this.

I hope these words - and truths - bless you like they have blessed me.

Morning by morning
I wake up to find
The power and comfort of God's hand in mine
Season by season
I watch Him, amazed
In awe of the mystery of His perfect ways

All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me.

I can't remember a trial or a pain
He did not recycle to bring me gain
I can't remember one single regret
In serving God only, and trusting His hand

All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me.

This is my anthem, this is my song
The theme of the stories I've heard for so long
God has been faithful, He will be again
His loving compassion, it knows no end

All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful, He's always been faithful
He's always been faithful to me.
