It's Getting Closer...

... so I hope you've ordered your copy of "Holiday with Matthew Mead."

It's only the best magazine on holiday decor, some gifts, styling, foods, and of course... host(ess)ing. He calls it a book-a-zine. Whatever it's called, I'm telling you it's something you definitely need. It's only THE most hip holiday designing that I'd put in that "within reach" category, meaning... affordable or easily mad affordable, realistic (style-wise), and well put together.

Get your copy so you can get your 2010 holiday decorating on!

You & Yours

I suppose this is what happens when you title your last post "Monday Night..." anything.

The next time you go to blog you realize what a slacker you've been. The shame, the shame.

Since really all the time in the world that I have is going to work lately (well that, and preparing for the house guests I have seemed to have almost every other weekend for the last 8+ weeks...), I've really only been able to just about tread water following the OTHER blogs and not writing my own.

So I thought I'd share whose I'm loving most lately. [Real] friends, you are officially out of the running so that I don't have to admit if I am loving your blog right now. :)

I'm sure these are mostly what you're reading - but I have a big list and sort of get stuck on 5 or 6 favorites at a time. Here are the currents:

Phew. These ladies & gents keep me busy enough... let alone all you friends that I read. Every. Single. Post. Every. Day. (Of course.)

Who am I missing that should be making it in to my Top Six for the next few months?

Monday Night Musings

I learn so many little tidbits from reading other people's blogs all the time. I learn about new sites, new color combinations, new layouts and design "rules" to break. Really, it's quite a world out there of people that really - REALLY - know what they're doing.

I'm not one of them. So I'll take every opportunity to learn from them!

There isn't always enough to build an entire post, so maybe I'll just leave you with a few little nuggets from the weekend.

First, this magazine, Lonny Magazine. Not sure how I am so completely and totally out of the loop on this one, but I am!

Second, I saw a quote this weekend that read, "I think of you in colors that don't exist." I don't know, a little "art geek" as where I saw it described it, but it struck me. Maybe it's not an obvious person in your life - or more likely what others would think would be your obvious answer - but is there anyone in your life that is so full, and so complicated, yet wonderful, that you do in fact think of them in colors that don't exist?

This is one of my most favorite shots I've taken - and I thought of it immediately.

Invited to the Party

Am I the last person on Earth to know about Rue La La?

A friend invited me a few days ago, and I'll be completely honest I kind of thought - another shopping thing? Hm.

Good thing I went forward! Just in case you're like me, and you are not familiar - the site is a sale site for designer brands and items, but only for a limited amount of time. So for example, if you are a member and go on the site, they list on the right the designer sales that are upcoming and on which dates they will go live - and all at 11 a.m. those days.

The designers range from French Connection, to Kenneth Cole, to Cuisenart & Lenox. It's really fantastic but needs a bit of looking and looking at the schedule ahead to see when your favorite products are coming up for sale.

I've been tempted by a few kitchen appliances but have been too late to purchase them! The sales are for a few days usually but I haven't been checking quite often enough.

That all said, it is INVITE ONLY. Which, I'll admit, is kind of fun. It's totally free, so if you'd like to be invited, comment and I'll invite you through the site!

It's Not You, It's Me

Obviously someone was kidding themselves when they thought they would actually blog regularly when they were NOT on a staycation. Oh wait, that was me. Right.

At least it runs in the family to sporadically update blogs.

I take no responsibility for anything I do. I was born this way! The genes made me do it! Maybe I can get a TLC documentary out of it or something.

Oops.
